A GENTLE approach to BEING in your body

There is a deep well of wisdom within our body that speaks very clearly the moment we choose to give space to listen.

These sessions/classes assist with the awareness that the quality and presence we bring to our movements has an enormous influence on how we feel and the level of well-being we experience on a daily basis.

Being dis-connected from our body is one of the underlying causes of stress, anxiety, depression, tiredness, fatigue, sleep disorders and other acute and chronic health conditions. The purpose of the 'Yoga of Stillness' is to re-introduce a way of being and quality of movement that re-ignites the living stillness within - a quality of connection of mind and body in synch that is known, natural and feels amazing.

The Yoga of Stillness is a self-healing modality that can be done anytime, anywhere and epitomizes the truth of yoga.

A Yoga of Stillness class is done either laying down or sitting in a chair.

Classes are offered in various formats -  yoga courses, yoga workshops and private sessions.

It is presented as a sequence of simple, everyday movements that support us to re-establish our connection with our body and the quality of our movements. They offer a simple, but powerful way to explore and develop an honest relationship with the body, with an opportunity...

- to stop & be present

- to deeply rest & nurture you
- to let go of tension in the body
- to create spaciousness in the body
- to just simply be

True wealth is the currency of deep settlement in your body & joy in your heart

Benefits of The Yoga of Stillness

The Yoga of Stillness is a self-healing modality that can be done anytime, anywhere and epitomizes the truth of yoga.

The old saying ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ is very relevant to The Yoga of Stillness, as what lays beneath the surface, inside the simple book cover, is very rich indeed. I liken it to this because the simplicity of The Yoga of Stillness format does not allude to the depth & power of what can be felt in the body in a 1hr session, that is in the most part laying down, being still and creating the space to feel the body.  In fact it is almost too difficult to fathom how something so simple could be so amazing in what it offers the body and the being and how one feels!

To put this into perspective, in the many years before discovering The Yoga of Stillness I had worked with many modalities and fitness regimes and have been regarded as an expert in my fields as a Fitness Professional, Yoga teacher and Acrobatic teacher / performer spanning a 30 year period. And I can say without hesitation that everything I have experienced has not come even close to the profoundness and honesty of what Esoteric Yoga offers. It is truly a modality sent from heaven that allows me to experience and connect to a most natural rhythm and thus a way of being that is harmonious, healing and feels so yummy in my body. In fact I would go as far as to say that it is the foundation of true vitality.

If I were to summarise my highlights and appreciations of The Yoga of Stillness they would read something like this…

  • The level of deep rest and harmony that my body feels after a session and how different my day unfolds as a result of this lovely connection with me is delicious. I can go into a session feeling quite tired, and come out of a session feeling restored and ready for my day.

  • Any tension or anxiousness (especially in the shoulders) dissolves, allowing for more of the spaciousness and yumminess of me.

  • The spaciousness, openness & gentle quality that is felt in the body is achieved without any stretching or contorting the body. It reminds me that this is most likely how we felt as babies - so open and feeling the preciousness and tenderness that is so natural.

  • There is an absolute honesty that I am shown during each session that allows me to look at the way I am choosing to live. Knowing that my body feels the end result of my choices, it gives me an opportunity to make positive lifestyle changes that I know will directly affect my well-being and how my body feels.

  • I am in awe of how the body knows exactly how to bring itself back to harmony when I choose to get out of the way and treat my body in a most caring and respectful way - the same way that you would treat and hold a baby.

'The body is the marker of truth'

I have just completed Marika’s 6week yoga course and I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that was presented in each session and the unfolding awareness that came thereafter. I find The Yoga of Stillness classes provide the space for me to connect to my body and be able to let go of tension and unwind.  I feel the difference in my body after every class especially how rejuvenating and restored I feel.

Marika has a wonderful understanding of Yoga – she presents from her solidness, her presence and the wisdom that she lives. Each class inspires me to bring focus to certain areas in my life. Her guidance and support throughout the 6week course was really beautiful and I highly recommend her course to anyone who wants to re-connect to themselves on a deeper level.

I am loving being able to do Esoteric Yoga online.  I have missed so many yoga classes due to not being well enough to drive myself or the times were not suitable whilst I have my chemo schedule currently taking priority.  BUT, online yoga I've not missed one class even when I was feeling quite unwell and certainly unable to get out of bed to travel to a class.

Thank you for your super loving and professional care during this past year whilst I underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The loving, deep and restorative online esoteric yoga sessions remained ever present during my hospital treatments.  They fully supported me to rest deeply; from home, no need to travel when unwell, therefore never needed to miss a class!

I'm so grateful for the gift of The Yoga of Stillness. I feel like I've really settled into a rhythm with the classes now, and I've been able to surrender and let go much more deeply during the sessions. I am learning to just 'be' with my body and lovingly accept 'what is' and what is coming up to be felt, without reacting to it.

The Yoga of Stillness has given me the tools to be able to deeply surrender my body and to come back to this anytime in my day, and is teaching me that I can be my own practitioner. I feel I'm starting to integrate the essence of the practice into my everyday living now, and I am wondering how I managed before The Yoga of Stillness. The benefits have been truly inspiring.
